Heather Brown, DNP, PMHNP-BC, CARN-AP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Addiction Registered Nurse–Advanced Practice with more than 15 years of healthcare experience. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care that is personalized, accessible, and patient-centered.

 

Heather earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Capella University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialization from the University of Cincinnati, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Western Governors University, and both her Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing from the University of Montana.

 

At Alliance for Rural Mental Health, Heather provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care for adolescents and adults ages 14 and older. Her services include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, supportive psychotherapy, and collaboration with primary care providers and therapists to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.

 

Heather has experience treating a broad range of conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and substance use disorders. As a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse–Advanced Practice (CARN-AP), she has advanced expertise in caring for individuals with co-occurring mental health and addiction concerns.

As the founder of Alliance for Rural Mental Health, Heather is passionate about expanding access to high-quality psychiatric services throughout Montana’s rural communities. She welcomes referrals from healthcare providers, therapists, hospitals, community organizations, and self-referring patients, striving to create a welcoming, stigma-free environment where every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered.
